Questions & Answers

Photographers share ideas at SuperShoots Las Vegas. Q. Can I Register with Deferred Payment?
A. Yes you may. Please e-mail J T Smith to work out arrangements.

Q. What is the Photographer/Model Ratio?
A. This event is a three-day program at a one-to-one photographer-to-model ratio. Photographers respect each other at my events.

Q. Will there be studio shooting?
A. Only in a workshop environment on the last day at the property of the hotel; studios will be in place.

Q. Will I be stuck in a situation where everyone will be shooting the same photos as me?
A. The event is structured to allow photographers in the three-day program to work individually with each model for an equal amount of time.

Q. What kind of releases will there be?
A. The models will sign standard self promotional releases stating that these images can be used for any self promotion by the photographer, such as on non-pay websites, promo pieces or in portfolios. Any other arrangements can be made between the models and the photographers on an individual basis, as long as those arrangements do not interfere with the models' availability during the event.

Q. What equipment do I need?
A. A camera, lenses, digital media/film, tripod, reflectors, fill flash and any miscellaneous gear is at the discretion of each photographer. You will be responsible for your equipment. You do not need any other equipment for the event, but may wish to bring reflectors or tripods, etc. Each photographer shoots different. Some will shoot many images of each model, while others will shoot less. The amount that you shoot during your scheduled times with each model is entirely up to you.

Hint: I always pack twice the amount of film and image media than necessary.

Q. Will there be figure shooting?
A. No, this is not a nude event. Some models will pose up to lingerie and will be clearly identified. All models will pose for each photographer during the scheduled times. A model does have a right to refuse to pose if she is not comfortable. I ask that no photographers pressure the girls, as I am sure you can understand. Some are there to do fashion and fashion only. I am trying to take these events to a whole new level of professionalism, but I want everyone to have a VERY fun time, meet some great people, network and then to go home happy with a portfolio full of great images.

A model is photographed in the deserts near Las Vegas, Nevada. Q. Will any of the models be hanging around a few days before/after the event for paid shoots?
A. That will be up to each model individually and is not a part of the event. I encourage the models to contact the registered photographers to line up paid shoots before and after the event. Times will be set at a later date as to when the official schedule will be. It is too early to determine exactly the itinerary as details are being planned at this time for bigger and better things in addition to what has been announced.

Q. Will you be sending out an itinerary of events to the participants closer to the event?
A. Yes, a schedule will be e-mailed out in advance, but that schedule is subject to change without notice. Sometimes things beyond control happen or better ideas come along, so we try to be flexible.

Q. Do I have to stay at the official hotel?
A. No. Each photographer will be responsible for their own transportation to the event meeting places at the specified time (to be determined). If you stay at another hotel and a cab doesn't show up on time to pick you up, or if your rental car breaks down, that will be your responsibility and we will leave at the scheduled time for the day's location and you will NOT be reimbursed. It would be a great idea to team up with someone you know or put your name in for agreeing to room with another. This will cut your cost down, as well as make sure you are right there at said events!

Q. Are the models expecting prints/scans for their time?
A. Yes. Each model and photographer is encouraged to exchange contact info, although you are not required to legally. Photographers should recognize the models' efforts and reward them. This is a great marketing tool for you as a photographer. This will also continue to build your reputation.

Photographers spread out and start shooting in the deserts near Las Vegas, Nevada. Q. What will the shooting time versus instruction time be?
A. There will be plenty of free shooting each day. While we are here to learn as well, we want to put what we learn into practice. Best of both worlds at Vegas SuperShoot. J T Smith and volunteer experienced shooters will be on hand to assist and offer advice to the individual or group.

Q. After I sign up, would it be possible to get e-mail addresses for the models?
A. It is up to you and the model to exchange contact information. Some models advertise these on various forums and their personal websites. You will also be given contact information for every photographer and model who attends and provides such info.

Q. How will I remember the models' names after the event?
This site will remain up for three weeks after the event. Bookmark it now to return. It is another way of double checking faces with names.

Q. What types of other photographers will be there?
A. At my events you have experienced photographers and serious dedicated photographers. This is the standard. Photographers attending want to learn and enjoy photographing outstanding models. Experienced photographers want to update their book and network. At my events we come together as friends and we leave as family! It's as simple as that.
